CLUDEN PARK TRACK RENOVATION
The Club has this year again approved annual renovation work to the Course Proper at Cluden Park. The rail is currently out 6.5m from the 1000m to the Winning Post, and 4m from the Winning Post back around to the 1000m until October, with scarifying and a light top dress of the main inside racing pads due for completion this week. The track has raced very well throughout the last year after a similar renovation in September 2007 and the Club is extremely confident that it will continue to provide one of the most even and fair racing surfaces around.
2YO PALLARENDA STAKES
The annual start of the 2 Year Old racing season is set down for Friday the 17th of October with the running of the Trailer Sales NQ Pallarenda Stakes over 1000m the race again has an increased prize money level this year with a total of $25,000 plus $7,000 QTIS on offer. Details of qualifying conditions & trials are below:-
Pallarenda Stakes Friday 17 October - Ballot Conditions
* Should a ballot be necessary to reduce the number of acceptances to the safety limit, horses will be eliminated in the following order
(a) Horses not placed in an official two-year-old barrier trial;
(b) Horses placed either second or third in an official two-year-old barrier trial;
(c ) Horses which won an official two-year-old barrier trial;
Should a ballot be necessary to reduce the number of horses within an individual category, a ballot by lot will be conducted.
For the purpose of this condition, an official two-year-old barrier trial shall be deemed an official barrier trial, which was restricted to two-year-olds only and was conducted at a Metropolitan or Provincial venue i.e. Townsville. In addition to the official two-year-old barrier trials, barrier trials will also be conducted at the Cairns Jockey Club on Sunday the 5th of October, and they will be recognised for this purpose. The official qualifying trials for this purpose will be held at Cluden Park on Wednesday the 8th of October, full details are over the page.
WEDNESDAY 08 OCTOBER 2007 - 850m Official 2YO Pallarenda Stakes Qualifying Barrier Trials
* Trainers must nominate through the Trainers Service Centre as per normal official barrier trial conditions.
ADDITIONAL LEAD UP JUMPOUT FOR 2 & 3 YEAR OLD HORSES
In addition to the listed set jumpouts and official barrier trials the Club will also host the following 400m jumpouts for 2 & 3 Year Old Horses:-
* Wednesday 17 September - Immediately following the Official Barrier Trials from the 400m mark on the course proper.
* Any trainer wishing to utilise this special jumpout must nominate the name of their horse to the Club by no later then 5.00pm on Tuesday the 14th of September.
BARRIER TRIALS
Barrier Trials - Wednesday 17 September - to commence at 7.00am on the course proper against the rail - 850m - noms close 11am Monday 15 September.
* 2 Year Old & Class i.e. Maiden, Open etc, trials to be held on this day.
GRASS GALLOPS & JUMPOUTS
Grass Gallops - Friday 26 September - 4.00am - 6.30am - Outside witches hats
& Saturday 18 October - 4.00am - 8.00am - Outside witches hats
Jumpouts - Friday 26 September - 7.00am - 8.00am - 850m & 400m outside of course proper.
