Townsville trainer Georgie Holt celebrated her biggest day at the races with a winning treble at Cluden Park yesterday.
Holt and Brisbane-based jockey Ryan Wiggins combined to land wins with two-year-old Gossiping Girl, gay deceiver Live The Moment and classy galloper Langhro.
“It’s our first treble and it’s a great feeling,” Holt said.
“Actually, early in the week, we were worried that the meeting wouldn’t go ahead because of the weather.
“But it worked out great and we’ve had a big day out.
“They were all very good chances and Ryan rode them beautifully to get the result.”
Lightly raced filly Gossiping Girl took control of the Two-Years-Old Qtis Maiden Hcp (1000m) from the very start.
The promising Spill The Beans filly hadn’t been seen since her eye-catching fourth in the Pallarenda Stakes in October and was dominant.
“She missed a couple of gallops and a jump out due to the weather and that was a little worry. But despite that Ryan said she did it easily and was like an old hand out in front yesterday,” Holt said
“The win is also a good form pointer for our other filly Anniemariah who finished third in the Pallarenda.”
Live The Moment’s win in the Mike Mills Photography Hcp (1400m) was a breeze.
The former Sydney galloper has been a frustrating horse for Holt but relished the Soft 6 track to win by over four lengths.
“He’s been desperate for a wet track. He was ridden wrong last start but it looked like his race yesterday.”
Langhro brought up the treble with a grinding win under 63.5kg in the TAB Open Hcp (1400m).
He trailed leader Dalon all the way and found plenty when it counted to win in a tight finish by a neck.
Cleo’s Poet again proved a hit with punters when he recorded his second Townsville win in six days in the Sky Racing Hcp (1609m).
